How do you use a felted soap?

Any way you would use an unfelted soap, but here are some great ideas:

  • As a daily facial cleanser and gentle exfoliant.  Your felted soap will last for ages and your skin will have a beautiful glow.  One of our felted soap fans calls it her daily spa facial.
  • The guest powder room will get a fantastic visual boost with a piece of our bubbly art on the counter in a pretty dish.
  • Wonder what the perfect hostess gift is?  Or Christmas, etc?  Look no further.
  • Small children love to scrub up with our felted soaps.  They find it easy to grip and just plain fun.  Some of your older friends might appreciate a soap that won't slip out of their grip too.
  • Kitchen sink?  Perfect.
  • And some folks just like to give our felted soaps a home in their delicates drawer.
Just let your felted soap get good and wet the first time you use it, and then let it drain in between uses.

When you're ready for more, check our web site for a list of retailers where Ten Good Sheep's felted soaps can be found.  They'll be happy to fill your order.

How do I clean my Ten Good Sheep hat?

Having worked with natural fibers for so long we can give you a tip about all of your natural protein fiber clothing.  Never put anything on natural protein fibers that you wouldn't put on your hair.  And, when wet -  treat them as gently as you would your own hair.

Specifically, we recommend spot cleaning your hat with a mix of diluted baby shampoo (or diluted liquid castile soap) and warm water with a rag.
A lint brush does a nice job of freshening your hat up without needing to get it damp.

So what is a protein fiber?

Generally this refers to fibers that come from any animal.  Angora rabbit, dog, cat, Angora goat, Cashmere goat, sheep, llama, alpaca, camel, musk ox...you get the idea.  Silk is a protein fiber too.

How do I clean my nuno piece?

Warm water with diluted shampoo or liquid castile soap soaking will freshen up your nuno piece beautifully.  There's no need to rough it up.  Let it soak and then rinse with warm water until the soap is removed - squeeze gently.  Lay flat to dry.  The silk ruffles around the edges of the nuno piece can be  ironed if you desire, but there's something sort of organic and pretty about just allowing the silk to do what it wants.  Either way, your piece is very pretty.

Will I ruin my hat if I wear it in the rain?

This is a fun question to answer...
No, you won't ruin your hat.  Sheep get wet in the rain all the time - and it mostly improves their wool.

One of the best parts about your new hat (other than how impossibly beautiful it is) is that it performs like a superstar in the most heinous weather conditions.  Wool is naturally water repellent.  With the super thickness of your hat, you probably won't feel the first bit of water (or wind for that matter) on your  head.  But even if you did get soaked all the way through, you won't hurt your hat - AND it will still keep you warm even if it's drenched.  That's just what wool does.  And yet, it's so breathable that it won't overheat you.  How great is that?

Once you're in your dry home, remove your hat from your head (at which time it will be in the correct shape)  and allow it to air dry.  That's about it.  If you have a posie hat, you can reshape your posies with your fingers if needed...just pinch them a little and let them dry.

Can I meet your sheep?

Oh how we wish you could.  When our flock of sheep was still with us, we loved nothing more than introducing them to new friends.  We would give shearing demonstrations and let children feed them the snacks they adored.  (Doritos and Cheetos mostly!)

To everything there's a season, and our flock was a part of our earlier fiber years.  We still dye and spin their wool from our never ending wool stash that they gave us over the years.  They are in God's hand now...and we still miss them every day.  They were so instrumental in the direction of our livelihood that we named our company after them...they were definitely Ten Good Sheep.

Do you sell the dyed wool from the Ten Good Sheep?

Only very occasionally.

But here's a secret...if you have a Ten Good Sheep posie hat, the posies are most likely made with the dyed wool of one of the Ten Good Sheep themselves.
